Tobacco Use on Tipton School, Tobacco Free Plicy

The Red River Tobacco Education Consortium (R2TEC) recently presented the Tipton School District with a banner promoting the school’s 24/7 Tobacco Free Policy. R2TEC is very thankful and appreciative to the Tipton School District for passing a policy that prohibits tobacco use on school property 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year. Tobacco is Oklahoma’s leading cause of preventable death, killing more Oklahomans each year than alcohol, auto accidents, AIDS, suicides, murders and illegal drugs combined. The tobacco industry targets youth to be replacement users for those that die prematurely from using their products. Every ninety minutes in Oklahoma, a child becomes addicted to tobacco. R2TEC wants to salute the Tipton School District for its commitment in protecting our youth from tobacco influence on their property.
